Longdong Rock Climbing Yard is located at Gongliao District’s Longdong Cape in New Taipei City. Being in a relatively secluded spot and sparsely populated, much of its natural landscape is relatively well-preserved. Longdong is a natural rock climbing area. Many experienced rock climbers from abroad have heard of Taiwan’s Longdong as being a perfect place for rock climbing. With routes for both beginners and expert climbers, it attracts rock climbing aficionados from all over the world, and rock climbing instructors often bring their students here to practice.
Matt Robertson, an American rock climbing instructor who has lived in Taiwan for over a decade, works as a coach for an outdoor activities company. Robertson, who favors Longdong, said that there are more than 600 routes altogether; while some are suitable for beginners, others are made for more experienced climbers. No matter it be “lesson one” routes for beginners or the most challenging ones for seasoned climbers, Longdong has it all.
A couple from the United Kingdom who were visiting Taiwan for the first time specifically picked the Longdong Rock Climbing Yard as the first spot on their list of challenges. Robertson said the weather in spring and autumn is settled, and thus quite suitable for rock climbing. He brings rock climbing enthusiasts from all over the world to Longdong at least three times a week.

It challenges the social expectation to remain constantly busy in this fast-paced world, offering competitors a pause from their routines. For 90 minutes, players are scored on how well they “space out” based on artistic and technical aspects, with their heart rates monitored every 15 minutes. Then, the audience votes for

B: Yeah, she’s set to perform for the National Day celebration at the Taipei Dome this Saturday. A: As the best Taiwanese-language singer, it would be a big loss if she continued her hiatus. B: Recently, Chiang revealed that she quit singing in 2015 due to cancer. A: That’s shocking. But it’s great to see her healthy and able to turn the mic back on again. (By Eddy Chang,
