Macau casino tycoon Stanley Ho paid US$330,000 for two white truffles at a weekend auction, a report said yesterday, matching the record price he paid for one of the prized fungi three years ago.
The billionaire made his winning bid through representatives at the event held at his own Grand Lisboa hotel in the Asian gambling hub, the fourth straight year he has won the truffle auction, the Standard newspaper reported.
Ho’s winning bid bought him a giant truffle from Italy’s central Tuscany region that weighed about 900g and a smaller one of about 400 grams, the report said.

The auction in Macau, a former Portuguese colony returned to China in 1999, also saw bidders vie for the delicacy from Rome and London via satellite link, it said.
Ho paid a record US$330,000 in 2007 for a single truffle that weighed almost 1.5kg.
The tycoon’s bid came about two weeks after a Hong Kong-based wine critic paid 105,000 euros for a giant white truffle at an auction near the northern Italian town of Alba.

昨日媒體報導表示，澳門賭場大亨何鴻燊於週末拍賣，以三十三萬美元購得兩顆白松露，與他三年前以創紀錄的價格購買的松露價錢不相上下。
這位億萬富翁透過代表人，於自家蓋在亞洲博奕樞紐澳門的澳門新葡京酒店所舉辦的活動贏得這項物品的拍賣。根據當地《英文虎報》報導，這是何鴻燊連續第四年贏得拍賣。
該報導表示，何鴻燊的得標使他獲得義大利中部托斯卡尼地區一顆巨大的，約九百公克的松露，以及另一顆較小的，大約四百公克。
