Ed Jarrett has built a sand castle that is nearly 10 meters tall. He is trying to raise money for children who are very sick. He hopes the structure will be named the world's tallest sand castle.
The sand castle measures 9.6m high and the paperwork will be sent to Guinness World Records. They'll determine whether the castle makes the record book.
More than 1,000 people volunteered over the past two months to help build the castle. Organizers said they used 40 dump truck loads of sand.
The castle was built for an event called "Castle to the Sun." The event was used to raise money for the charity Camp Sunshine.
Jarrett created a sand castle in Falmouth in 2003 that was nearly 9m tall. At the time, that castle was determined to be the world's tallest.(Staff Writer, with AFP)
