US toy maker Fisher-Price said it was recalling nearly one million toys made in China. The company fears they could be colored with toxic paints.
The US toymaker said it was recalling 967,000 toys. The toys were sold in US stores between May and August this year.
"Paint on some of the toys could have too much lead," the company said in an announcement.
A US Product Safety group told parents to "take the recalled toys away from children" and talk to Fisher-Price.
The recall included around 80 items, including toy cars, dolls and musical instruments, many connected to the Nickelodeon children's TV network.
Fisher-Price, owned by Mattel Inc., said the toys were produced by a single company in China but did not give the name or location.
Several weeks ago a US toy company recalled wooden "Thomas the Train" figures which were also made in China and painted with lead paint.

In the dense forests of Tanzania, a young researcher sat quietly among the trees, her gaze fixed on a troop of chimpanzees. It was 1960, and Jane Goodall, armed with nothing but a notebook and endless curiosity, was about to change science forever. Inspired by childhood stories like the Dr. Dolittle series, she had dreamed of Africa — and now, thanks to the encouragement of anthropologist Louis Leakey, she was there, face-to-face with the wild. What Jane discovered shocked the world. Chimpanzees weren’t mere creatures of instinct; they were individuals with emotions, families, and even the capacity for tool
The New England Aquarium in Boston, US, has set up a “retirement home” to offer a safe and supportive environment for aging penguins. With over half the aquarium’s penguins now older than the usual 10 to 15 years they reach in the wild, staff separated one island for closer monitoring. The space features flat ground and a carpeted path to the water, helping the older birds who don’t move as easily. A stand at the front also makes it simpler for them to hop out of the water. These changes allow the older penguins to avoid competing with younger,
