A man who walked across Britain wearing only a hat, boots and an old sack has completed his marathon trip. He celebrated by putting his real clothes back on.
"It's nice to get warmed up again," said Stephen Gough, 46, after he finished his walk.
Gough and his partner, 34-year-old hairdresser Melanie Roberts, completed the last 32.2km of their 1,363km walk from Land's End in southwest England in temperatures of about 5C.
"It has been pretty cold and the locals have been coming up to us offering us whisky and all sorts (of things)," said Gough. "They've been very, very friendly. We passed a school and there were even parents coming out with video cameras."
Gough, a former soldier who did his first naked walk in 2004, said he would certainly consider doing this kind of stunt again.
The first time he walked across the country naked, he was slowed down because he was arrested 14 times and had to serve two jail terms.
The same thing happened to him this time as well. In September of 2005, he was put in jail for two weeks for breaching the peace by walking naked along the A701 highway near the Scottish capital, Edinburgh.
After that, he had to serve a two-month sentence for breaching his bail conditions.
Gough and Roberts finished the final leg of their journey without any problems, although they were detained twice after some people complained, including an angry church minister. No charges were brought. (AFP)

Facing relentless flooding and rising expenses, Dumble Farm in England has stopped selling milk and started an unexpected but therapeutic venture: cow cuddles. In 2022, the owners sold most of their dairy cows and began letting visitors spend time brushing, petting, and even hugging specially trained Highland cows for 95 pounds per session. This unusual shift reflects the rise of the so-called healing economy, a sector where animal-assisted experiences are marketed as emotional remedies for stress and burnout. While dogs and cats remain the most common therapy animals, cows are gaining popularity for their calm nature. At Dumble Farm, only cows that
For many introverts, shy individuals and people with social anxiety, mingling at parties is often draining or arouses uncomfortable emotions. The internal debate about whether or not to attend large get-togethers can get especially intense during the holiday season, a time when many workplaces celebrate with cocktail hours, gift exchanges and other forms of organized fun. “Some people are just not party people,” City University of New York social work professor Laura MacLeod said. “With a workplace holiday party, there’s a pressure to be very happy and excited. It’s the end of the year, it’s the holidays, we’re all feeling grand.
