Yesterday was the second time that the award was given to a Taipei Times reporter. Staff reporter Chiu Yu-tzu (邱育慈) won it last year, marking the first time the award was given to a reporter from an English-language daily.
Each recipient receives up to NT$500,000 in research grants to facilitate overseas research.

The High Court yesterday overturned a Taipei District Court decision to release Taiwan People’s Party Chairman Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) and sent the case back to the lower court.
