DelSolar Co (旺能光電), a solar cell and module manufacturing arm of local power device maker Delta Electronics Inc (台達電), has marked a milestone in the US market by completing a 1.15 megawatt solar photovoltaic (PV) project for US Foodservice in La Mirada, California.
The solar system installed at US Foodservice-Los Angeles is currently the largest in a series of similar projects DelSolar will install for the US’ leading foodservice distributor, according to a company statement issued on Wednesday.
“This is the largest PV solar turn-key solution that DelSolar has completed in North America, and the largest solar installation at any US Foodservice facility,” Stephen Torres, director of DelSolar Development USA, said in the statement.
The La Mirada project is estimated to generate approximately 1.66 million kilowatt-hours per year, equivalent to the annual energy consumption of about 150 US homes, the company said.
Meanwhile, DelSolar said in a stock exchange filing that it had modified a silicon-wafer procurement contract it signed with a European company on June 28 to reflect changes in market conditions.
However, the changes in the terms of the contract regarding wafer quantities and unit prices will cost the company NT$330 million (US$11.45 million), DelSolar said in the filing.
DelSolar’s shares fell 1.39 percent to NT$35.5 yesterday.
In the first half, the company’s revenue totaled NT$5.93 billion, up 50.65 percent from a year earlier, company data showed.
