The are more vacancies for executive positions at local companies during this year’s peak job-hunting period than last year because of business expansion, an online manpower agency said yesterday.
The number of mid to high-level management positions offered since the Lunar New Year holiday rose 27.6 percent this year over last year, according to a survey conducted by the 104 Job Bank from Feb. 24 to March 1.
In Taiwan, many office workers change jobs after receiving their annual bonus on the Lunar New Year.
Some 35.6 percent of the companies surveyed said they were looking for more executives this year because of business expansion, the poll showed.
Another 25.1 percent said they needed new staff to fill vacant management positions, while 22.7 percent cited the development of new business or new products as their reasons for hiring.
According to the poll results, 30.3 percent of the openings are related to marketing, planning and project management.
Another 28.2 percent of the jobs on offer are associated with customer service, sales and trade, while 19.6 percent fell into the category of human resources.
In addition, the survey showed that the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement that Taiwan and China signed last year prompted 42.7 percent of the respondents to begin focusing on China’s domestic market.
Another 36 percent said they would expand their current production scale, while 31.7 percent said they planned to move their factories to inland areas of China to expand their presence in second and third-tier Chinese cities.
