Yen will lead a 12-member delegation to Suzhou tomorrow where the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is due to hold the two-day meeting beginning Saturday, the finance ministry said in a statement.
Representatives from the International Monetary Fund, World Bank and Asian Development Bank are also expected to attend the conference.
Discussions will center on ways to stabilize regional economies, prevent financial crisis, and promote regional economic development and international cooperation, the ministry said.
To ensure the smooth running of the conference, deputy finance ministers and deputy central bank governors from APEC economies will exchange views on Thursday and Friday.
China is hosting APEC meetings for the first time, with the 2001 series of gatherings to culminate in the keynote Shanghai summit in October, due to be attended by US President George W. Bush.
