Piracy: Kelly Chan wins award

One of Hong Kong's top pop stars has won a US$40,000 payout from CD pirates in China who were selling bootleg copies of her work. Kelly Chan's (³¯¼zµY) record company Go East Records took action against a shop and two companies involved in the mass production of pirated CDs of the star's work in Shenzhen. A Shenzhen court ordered the companies to pay a total of almost US$40,000 in compensation to Go East Records and to take out full-page newspaper advertisements in China apologizing to Chan. Kelly Chan is one of the most popular artists in the Canto-pop industry.
