Intel Corp, which is trying to sell chips used to run the most powerful corporate networks, said a new processor for server computers will be 1.5 to two times faster than its predecessor. The world's largest chipmaker's Itanium 2 chip is expected to go on sale in July. The processor will enable companies to as much as double the speed at which transactions are processed or support twice as many computers as the previous Itanium, said enterprise marketing manager Shannon Poulin. The first version of the Itanium, which went on sale two years behind schedule, hasn't sold well.
