Singapore bans products

Seventeen Chinese health products found to contain chemicals such as morphine and sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, have been taken off Singapore's shelves since 1999, the Sunday Times reported. The Health Sciences Authority ordered the products be withdrawn after tests showed they contained substances which the importers failed to declare. Thirteen importers and distributors have since been convicted of offences under the Poisons Act and Medicines Act and fined up to S$30,000 (US$16,600) since 1999. Some of them were even jailed for 10 weeks.
