Hutchison Whampoa Ltd, owned by billionaire Li Ka-shing, said it will sell Research In Motion Ltd's BlackBerry e-mail pager and services in Hong Kong, Macau and later in China. Hutchison is the first company in Asia to sell the device and services, which let people type e-mail messages on a small keyboard and place phone calls through an attached earpiece. Hutchison Telecommunications (Hong Kong) Ltd, the telecommunications unit of Hutchison Whampoa, won one of the four licenses auctioned by the Hong Kong government last year to develop wireless technology that will allow mobile-phone subscribers faster access to the Internet. "Hutchison will develop 3G applications to expand our 3G market worldwide with" Research in Motion, said Canning Fok, managing director of Hutchison Whampoa.
