Cellphone sadness
Dzemile Ibraimi is in tears as she assembles mobile phones during her last shift at the BenQ plant in Kamp-Lintfort, Germany, on Tuesday. The Kamp-Lintfort plant of insolvent cellphone producer BenQ was to be shut down later that afternoon. A spokesman for the IG-Metall union said that a new investor was not yet in sight. Taiwanese electronics group BenQ had acquired the loss-making business from Siemens of Germany, but decided to close it down as the losses continued.
