Protesters throw bottles at police as thousands of demonstrators hurled bottles, rocks, logs and metal fences at the European Parliament building in Strasbourg, France, on Monday, as they protested plans to liberalize port services across the EU. Police fought pitched battles with groups of protesters, charging at them and using water cannons and tear gas to keep them away from the EU legislature.
