Charged atmosphere
Employees from the state-owned Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand rally in front of their headquarters in Bangkok yesterday against a government plan to privatize the company. Despite a second week of protests from thousands of workers, Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra insisted yesterday the government would not retreat from its plan to sell off a stake in the firm in an initial public offering.
