Local firms seeking refunds for show

STAFF WRITER

The cancellation of Comdex 2004 is not expected to pose huge impact on Taiwanese companies that have signed up for the show, the local agent for Comdex told the Taipei Times yesterday.

"There are only around 10 companies that signed up with us so far," said Miso Tseng (曾淑芳), sales director of Ace Forum Inc (亞廣展覽公司).

"We would make a full refund to those participants unless they would like to leave with us for next year's show," Tseng said.

Most of local companies rent only one booth, which costs US$5,000 apiece, to participate, Tseng said.

She declined to specify how many companies that have asked for refunds.

Comdex organizers had expected to lure up to 150 Taiwanese companies this year, up from over 100 last year, said Marco Pardi, sales vice president of MediaLive International, at a press conference in April in Taipei.
