Flight attendants at United Airlines reached a tentative agreement Sunday night on US$412 million in contract concessions that the airline sought in its effort to avoid filing for bankruptcy protection.
The agreement by the Association of Flight Attendants, with 24,000 members at United, comes 10 days after United and the pilots union reached a deal on US$2.2 billion in cuts. Voting on the deal by the 8,800 pilots began last week. United has also reached a tentative deal with its meteorologists.
The flight attendants union said Sunday night that its leadership approved the package on a unanimous vote. It declined to release details until members had been briefed on the concessions, which, like the pilots' are set to run over the next five and a half years. The union said voting should end by Nov. 30.
