US enters day 5 of port dispute

SHUTDOWN West Coast ports remain closed as the dispute between dockworkers and shipping companies continues, costing the US as much as US$1 billion per day

General Motors has shifted some shipments from Asia, such as components for the Pontiac Vibe, to air freight, said Pat Morrissey, a spokesman for the world's biggest automaker.

He declined to estimate the added cost.
