Members of the historic grenadier corps in Villingen-Schwenningen, Germany, fire 12 shots with a cannon at 8am yesterday in a traditional New Year’s greeting. The first such event took place in 1633 to celebrate the survival of the people of Villingen of a winter siege by Swedish and Wuerttemberg forces.Jan 02, 2013
