The Japanese coast guard vessel Kaiyo leaves Moji port, southern Japan, yesterday, to take part in a joint marine survey with South Korea in waters claimed by both countries. The Oct. 7-14 joint survey is part of efforts to defuse a long-simmering row between Japan and South Korea, which both claim the Sea of Japan islets.
