In the Democratic race, Clinton has come under fire from her rivals for her vote in 2002 to authorize the Iraq war.

But some analysts believe Clinton, while promising to end the Iraq war as "quickly and as responsibly as possible" has been careful to adopt a tough posture on national security.

"She is trying to position herself as a Democratic Margaret Thatcher," Goldford said, referring to the former British prime minister.
