Robbers steal woman's hair
Assailants wielding a knife and a pair of scissors attacked a young woman walking home from church and cut off most of her waist-length hair, police said on Monday. A man and a woman grabbed 19-year-old Simone Regina Penteado on Sunday evening in the southeastern city of Araraquara and threatened to kill her if she didn't stand still, a police spokeswoman said. "The woman grabbed about 90 centimeters of Simone's dark brown hair and cut it off at the nape of her neck," the spokeswoman said. The thieves, if caught, could be charged with armed robbery.

Marley friend convicted
The road manager for the late reggae superstar Bob Marley was convicted of drug trafficking on Monday and sentenced to 18 months in prison. Alan Cole was accused of planning to export 90kg of marijuana that police found in his east Kingston home in 2002. He was released on bond pending an appeal. Cole, 57, was a close friend of Marley and received a writing credit for the song War, from the album Rastaman Vibration released in 1976 by Bob Marley and the Wailers.

Stolen baby monkeys found
Two baby marmosets that were stolen from an exotic pet store in Sevierville, Tennessee, have been found safe, and two teenagers were charged over the theft, police say. The monkeys were taken last Thursday and were found in Maryville, 48km away. An 18-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man have been charged with felony theft and felony burglary. The two monkeys appeared to be in good health.
