Mahathir calls Malaysia `police state'

Mahathir -- who is hailed for transforming Malaysia from an agricultural backwater into an industrialized economy -- claimed Abdullah had run the country's economy aground.

He said foreign and domestic investments are down while crime and drug use have gone up.
