The evictions from the apartments, which had been occupied by civil servants, follow the Nigerian government's privatization of a number of government-owned residences. Spokesmen for the army and police were unavailable for comment.
Tenants of other Lagos apartment blocks have been given notice that they will also be evicted, including at one site where thousands of residents live in over 1,000 apartments.
