Israelis give Rafah border crossings two more days

HURRY UP Due to continued smuggling Israel has decided to divert border traffic via an alternative Israeli-controlled crossing while the Rafah facilities are upgraded

In other news, Israeli forces raided the West Bank raid early yesterday looking to arrest senior Islamic Jihad militants.

``We condemn in the strongest possible terms the Israeli incursion into Tulkarem,'' Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said.

Despite a cease-fire declared in February that has reduced violence, Israel continues to target Islamic Jihad cells. In an Aug. 25 raid on the Tulkarem refugee camp, Israeli forces killed five Palestinians, two of them unarmed teenagers.

Shortly after the truce was declared, Islamic Jihad carried out a suicide bombing attack in Tel Aviv that killed five Israelis. It has also been involved in other attacks on Israeli targets since the cease-fire.
