Victim's family attack cash offer

`EX GRATIA PAYMENT' British officials offered the de Menezes family £15,000, but the family accused the police of pressurizing them and treating them as stupid

AGNECIES , LONDON

The first police reports said de Menezes was dressed suspiciously and had failed to stop when challenged by officers a day after four attacks on London's transport system failed when the bombs did not explode.

But documents and images obtained by Britain's ITV television cast doubt on the police version of events, showing de Menezes walking calmly through the underground station before boarding the train where he was shot in the head.

His family was to stage a vigil yesterday evening outside Downing Street.

They will deliver a letter to the prime minister's office asking for a public inquiry into the death, exactly a month after the shooting.
