A photograph allegedly of Britain's worst serial killer in the nude is up for grabs on Internet auction site eBay, where it had attracted bids of ?850 (US$1,630) by Tuesday.
The picture, which is not displayed on the Web site, shows family doctor Harold Shipman -- also known as "Doctor Death" -- lying down naked, claimed the seller, a company called Rebelpics.
"Own the photograph, see the murdering bastard naked! And make thousands from the image," said a description of the photograph on the Web site.
"Once in a lifetime chance -- the world's press will pay big money for this picture," it added.
The general practitioner, who hanged himself in prison in January last year while serving a life sentence without parole, is thought to have killed 250 patients over three decades.
Despite not showing the Shipman photo, it generated an initial bid of ?250 only 40 minutes after the advert appeared on eBay.
It has since has attracted 32 bids, with the highest to-date coming in at ?850. Interested parties have until April 22 week to raise the stakes.
The advert claims money raised from the sale, minus the initial fee paid for the photograph, will be donated to the families of Shipman's victims.
But chairman of the victims group Peter Wagstaff, whose 81-year-old mother Kathleen was murdered by the killer, said nobody had got in touch with him about raising cash from the picture.
"It sounds rather sick, that's all. What sort of person does that?" Wagstaff said.
Shipman is thought to have killed about 250 patients over a 27-year period while running a one-man medical practice in Manchester, northwest England.
Republican US lawmakers on Friday criticized US President Joe Biden’s administration after sanctioned Chinese telecoms equipment giant Huawei unveiled a laptop this week powered by an Intel artificial intelligence (AI) chip. The US placed Huawei on a trade restriction list in 2019 for contravening Iran sanctions, part of a broader effort to hobble Beijing’s technological advances. Placement on the list means the company’s suppliers have to seek a special, difficult-to-obtain license before shipping to it. One such license, issued by then-US president Donald Trump’s administration, has allowed Intel to ship central processors to Huawei for use in laptops since 2020. China hardliners

After the five-week trial, 85 others were also sentenced on
