Last month, health ministers from central African nations met in Geneva and pledged their total commitment to polio eradication. Four major programs -- in which cheap oral vaccines will be given to millions of children in the region -- will begin next month. "Polio is set for eradication in Asia this year," said Aylward. "It may take longer in Africa, but I still believe we can do it."
