And finally on Friday, as the country waited with bated breath, the chief presiding justice Anatoly Yarema read out the verdict, handing total victory to the opposition.
"The court decision is final and cannot be appealed," he said firmly.

But in Kiev's central Independence Square, the scene of round-the-clock protests for nearly two weeks, deafening cheers rang out as an opposition lawmaker read out the names of each of the 21 supreme court judges.
Praising them as "heroes of Ukraine" who had resisted "huge pressure," he said the men and women who made the landmark ruling had "saved the ideals of democracy."
