"We should stop tiptoeing around on this issue," said Sabah Khaddim, a senior adviser to the interior minister.
"We all know the elections face a substantial security threat from the terrorists, and frankly we are not able to deal with that threat on our own. We need help from our neighbors and the international community. We are facing a big deficit in manpower and equipment."
