Weeks later, the smell of death still lingers in New York

A man walking down Liberty Street peddling American flag pins said: "It's the souls being disturbed. It's the smell of the souls being disturbed."

Lauryn Sawyer, 36, a counselor visiting from North Carolina to do her part to help New York's faltering economy, said: "The smell breaks my heart. The smell makes it all worse. It makes it more real, and I wish it weren't real."
