Peter Goreman, president of the Fire Officers Association, offered thanks to the iron workers and construction workers who were cutting steel beams and hauling rubble from the site where hundreds of firefighters remained missing.
"To everyone from the construction trade to anyone handing out a bottle of water, I want to say thank-you."
