The following are the accounts of witnesses to the World Trade Center attack:
Trevor Hunter, who works for Unisys, was at his office on the 71st floor of the No. 2 twin tower when the plane crashed into the building several floors above.
"The building just shook and then started swaying wildly back and forth," said Hunter, who ran down a dark stairway to the ground. "Then they told us to evacuate. When we got down to the ground, there were people whose skin was burned, major, third-degree burns, and people bleeding. They were just lying everywhere."
Scott Anderson, who works at 120 Broadway, was a block and a half away when the No. 2 tower collapsed, sending a cloud of dust and debris hundreds of feet into the air, blotting out the sun.
"When the building went down, I was a block and a half away. Everything went black for about 10 minutes. It just became night.
"I know the area so I walked to the corner and felt my way along the building. There were like four of us walking together, holding onto each other. We saw people who were hit by debris. There was a guy lying on the ground bleeding that I almost tripped over. We jumped into an ATM center and waited until we saw light again." Anderson's eyes were red. He had thick, gray dust matted in his hair and covering his suit.
"I saw the second plane crash into the tower," said David Basoco, who works at Wagner Stott Bear Specialists LLC at 40 Wall Street not far from the twin towers. "I saw the explosion and the plume of smoke from the first crash. We had the windows open on the trading floor and somebody yelled out, `Here comes another one.'"
