Official to meet US officers

Vice Minister of National Defense Kang Ning-shiang (±d¹ç²»), who arrived in Hawaii Friday for a two-day visit, will meet ranking US military officers during his stay, an official of the US Pacific Command confirmed. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that Kang will not attend official activities but will meet ranking military officers. He declined to elaborate. Commenting on Kang's visit, the official stressed that Taiwanese ranking government officials have frequently visited the US Pacific Command and that in reality, a communication channel between the two sides has been established. Kang is being accompanied by Li Ming-hsien, Taiwan's deputy representative to the US, during the visit.
