Lu sees `Asian Switzerland'

Vice President Annette Lu (呂秀蓮) yesterday said Taiwan should use its edge in democracy and technological development to build the nation into a Switzerland in Asia. Lu made the remarks when she toured four companies in Taoyuan at the invitation of the Taiwan Association of Logistics Management. She said that at a time when Taiwan is striving to enter the UN, it is also important to strengthen its values, meaning a good use of its edge in freedom, democracy and technology to build the nation into the new Asian Switzerland. Lu noted that Switzerland just joined the UN, but many UN organizations were set up there even before it became a member.
