An alliance formed by domestic and overseas pro-Taiwan independence groups announced yesterday that it will organize a large rally in Taipei to promote a "Call Taiwan Taiwan" movement. Wang Kang-hou (王康厚), secretary-general of the alliance, said that it is planning to gather 100,000-people at the plaza in front of the Presidential Office on May 11 next year (Mother's Day) to call for a change in the nation's name. "Taiwan should be named Taiwan and only when this goal is achieved can it righteously enter the international community, " Wang said, adding that the rally is aimed at raising Taiwan consciousness and making the world know the name by which "the people of Taiwan want to call their country."
