The candidates for Taipei mayor are taking their election fight to bookstores. Publication of incumbent Ma Ying-jeou's (馬英九) book, originally scheduled to be published sometime early next month, has been moved forward since the DPP's candidate Lee Ying-yuan's (李應元) book already is out. An introduction is scheduled for Sept. 1. Ma's book targets 20- to 30-year-old voters. The book is written in a colloquial style and includes many color photographs of Ma hard at work studying English, jogging or attending to his mayoral duties. Lee's book is a transcript based on his own story of his experiences in university, as a legislator, Taiwan's deputy representative to the US and secretary-general to the Cabinet.
