WHO: Efforts to join stepped up

Taiwan hopes to achieve its goal of entering the WHO by increasing its international humanitarian aid and bolstering multilateral and bilateral cooperation, a Department of Health (DOH) official said yesterday. Speaking at the opening of a three-day "2002 International Health and Medical Cooperation and Development Workshop" sponsored by the Taiwan International Medical Alliance, DOH Specialist General Hsiao Mei-ling (蕭美玲) said the department will strengthen its cooperation with the international community and the EU and participate in activities held by non-governmental organizations.
