A record 950 high school graduates from Macau applied for entrance into Taiwan's universities this year, according to the local Chinese-language media. A total of 529 students were granted admission to Taiwanese colleges, while another 369 were admitted into a one-year course designed to prepare overseas Chinese students for college education here. The Macau committee responsible for overseeing the qualification exams held a guidance meeting for the successful candidates yesterday. It is also providing students with information on scholarship grants and part-time employment opportunities in Taiwan. An average 400 to 500 Macau students graduate from Taiwanese universities and colleges each year.
