The Foreign Affairs Committee of the Italian Chamber of Deputies unanimously passed a resolution on Tuesday supporting Taiwan's bid to join the WHO as an observer. The resolution demanded that the Italian government support Taiwan's WHO bid on all international occasions and coordinate with other EU member states in helping Taiwan realize its goal of securing observer status in the WHO. Gustabo Selva, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, said the resolution will be sent to relevant Italian government agencies soon, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for implementation. The resolution was initiated by Landi di Chiavenna in May and was endorsed by 12 other members of the Foreign Affairs Committee. After hour-long discussions Tuesday, all of the 14 committee members present at the meeting approved the proposal.
