Two warships which were hit late Saturday night in Keelung Port by a passenger liner plying the route between Taiwan and Matsu suffered only minor damage, officials of the Navy General Headquarters said yesterday. The damage sustained by the warships will not affect their ability to carry out their missions, the officials added. The liner Tai Ma ran into the warships Yun Yang and Sheng Yang at about 10:30pm after an engine-room fire damaged the vessel's ability to steer. The repair work on the two warships is expected to be completed soon, navy officials said, adding that the accident is being investigated.
