Tourists to Italy warned

With the approach of the peak summer vacation period, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned travelers to pay attention to their personal security and property while traveling in Italy. The ROC Representative Office in Rome called on tourists from Taiwan to be wary of bur-glaries and robberies and to keep their identification and other valuables in a safe place. "Copies of ID docu-mentation is sufficient when strolling in the streets," it said. It issued the warning in light of an increasing number of complaints in recent years of robberies and thefts from travelers from Taiwan in Italy, France and Spain. The office also provided a series of telephone and fax numbers in Italy for people from Taiwan to call in the event that they need help. The numbers are: 06-884-1362, 06-884-1132 and 06-884-1372. It also provided an emergency number: 338-141-8946 and a fax number 06-884-5772.
