Air-raid drill to be staged

An anti-air raid drill is to be staged in seven counties and cities in Central Taiwan today, police authorities said yesterday. The drill, part of the annual exercise code-named Wan An 25, will be held in Taichung City, Taichung County, Changhua County, Nantou County, Miaoli County, Yunlin County and Chiayi County. It will be conducted in two parts, with the first 30-minute section focusing on clearing the streets of the public and vehicles and the following 120 minutes taking the form of a disaster-relief exercise. The drill will begin with a siren warning at 1:30pm and last until 4pm. A similar exercise was conducted June 4 in northern Taiwan and another will take place in southern Taiwan June 27.
