An elderly woman by the name of Huang yesterday helped police in Keelung arrest a gang of three con-men by giving them a dose of their own treatment. Huang ran into a man and a woman, who pretended to be mentally retarded, both in their 50s, on Ming-teh Third Rd. in Keelung. According to Huang, the man said the woman, whom he claimed not to know, was easily cheated due to her mental handicap. She would accept money and exchange it for larger amounts, and he claimed she had just given him NT$100,000. A suspicious Huang played along, saying she needed to pick up her bank book, which she said held NT$1,000,000. A third person was called to drive Huang home. While claiming to fetch her bank book, she called a nearby police station, and police were sent to arrest the three.
