The Taipei District Prosecutor's Office is preparing to summon Hong Kong's Cantopop idol William So (蘇永康) and actress Anya (安雅) to appear in court after their urine tested positive for the illegal drug Ecstasy. The two entertainers had given police urine samples after they were arrested with 10 others in a Taipei pub early Saturday on suspicion of using the popular party drug. So has denied knowingly using any illegal drugs and claimed to be sleeping on a sofa in the room where police found him. The singer returned to Hong Kong Tuesday afternoon, but has promised he would cooperate with authorities and return to Taipei if requested after he was released on NT$10,000 bail. Anya has also denied that she took illegal drugs in the pub. The prosecutor's office confirmed Wednesday that the positive test results for So, Anya and five others meant they faced possible drug charges and a maximum two years' jail time or a three-month rehabilitation program if convicted. No hearing dates have yet been set.
