Taiwan should further open its doors to people from Hong Kong, a source in the Hong Kong travel industry said, commenting on the new entry regulations for visitors from the former British colony that took effect yesterday. Taiwan authorities should include all legal Hong Kong residents under the new measures, rather than just those who were born in Hong Kong, the source said, calling on Taiwan to remove the new restriction. Visitors from Hong Kong and Macao whose passports show they were born in those territories can now enter Taiwan on 14-day landing visas as long as they hold round-trip tickets.
