Hundreds of computer software entrepreneurs formed the Software Process Improvement Network-Taiwan (SPIN-Taiwan)yesterday, with the aim of improving software quality and production. Officials of the Institute for Information Industry (III), the promoter of the new group, said Taiwan's information software industry would not find a good niche in the world market if it does not try to elevate its quality and production, especially in the wake of Taiwan's WTO entry. Institute director Wu Yu-kwang (吳裕光) said the original SPIN was founded by a group of software profes-sionals in Washington in 1991 and that more than 85 such organizations now exist in some 100 cities in 26 countries. SPIN is a leader-ship forum for the free and open exchange of software process improvement experience and practical ideas.
