The Taiwan Organ Registry and Sharing Center, which will aim to promote organ donation and maintain a centralized organ-transplant waiting list, was inaugurated yesterday. The director of the center, doctor Benjamin Jeng (鄭隆賓), said that the center's immediate task would be to inform the nation's hospitals of its existence in order to begin gathering data concerning patients waiting for organs and potential donors. "Although we do not have many patients at present, we would be sure to give any donated organ to the one who needs it the most," Cheng said. As the center will operate under the Department of Health, Vice Minister of Health Huang Fu-yuan (黃富源) will serve as the center's president. The center is located at the department's Taipei Municipal Hospital.
