Lu calls for new ministry

Vice President Annette Lu suggested yesterday that the government should establish a ministry of ocean affairs to integrate related resources and technologies. Lu made the proposal when visiting an exhibition of equipment at the College of Marine Science at National Sun Yat-sen University in Kaohsiung. The vice president said the phrase, "Taiwan is an oceanic nation," should not serve as just a slogan, but a guideline for making the concept a reality.
